BUSTER 23/9/2012

Picture
It's 2.30am and some body has run over
and killed a 5.6kg female on Salamander Way near the duck pond! They left
her in the middle of the road and went on their way. A lovely lady and her
daughter spotted her in the road and noticed there was something on her back
and stopped. It was a 961gram male joey covered in blood. They wrapped him
in a jacket and delivered him to me. The blood turns out to be mum's, thank
goodness, he appears to not even have a scratch on him. I asked them where
mum was and they had moved her off the road onto the foot path. So after I
got him cleaned up and wrapped up and nice and warm , I put my fluro vest on
over my blood stained PJ's and went and retrieved mum. No chip. So I got to
bed at 5am and was up again at 7am to give him his next feed. He is feeding
really well, eating lots of leaf and is doing big wee's and lots of pellets.
Good Boy!!!
The daughter Michelle was asked to pick a name. I called her the
next morning to let them know how he was and she said because he looks like
a little fluffy teddy she would call him Buster after a teddy she has loved
and kept on her bed since she was a little girl (she is now 23) So Buster it
is!
Cheers & Yawn Sue

Here is an update on Buster who came into care in the early hours of Sunday
morning after the Koala Gala. He finally realised last night that he can't
find his mum anywhere! He cried for her several times through the night and
needed to be cuddled and carried around for a while. He thinks the stuffed
koala in his cot looks a bit like her but when he yipps at her she doesn't
put her arms around him and pull him in close. Very sad to watch. But there
is a good side. He is eating leaf like a little champion and has taken to
the formula really well. He has put on 95gr since his rescue and now weighs
1056gr. He likes to sit on the mummy koalas nose and eat leaf from there.
And she is OK sort of for a cuddle.

Buster, what can I say? Just too cute. He is feeling a little more relaxed
and even had a bash at the teddy that hangs up on his logs last night. Not
crying for mum anymore. Eating and drinking well. Sue

Hi Everyone. Buster seems a lot more relaxed. Everything is not so
scarey anymore. Just in the last 24hrs he has started to play big time. He
particularly likes to pants the Tony Abbot Teddy. He came in weighing 961 gr
and now weighs 1165 gr!200gr in a week. I'm happy with that. He also said to
tell Uncle Jay he is ready to be a You Tube star whenever he is. 8 pm seems
to be his preferred time to perform. sue

Hi Everyone. Little Buster has been a bit under the weather since Friday
night, so he had a visit with uncle Don this morning. He started with rapid
respirations on Friday which the progressed to small squeaky grunts on each
exhalation on Saturday. To me this seemed exactly the same as when I had MG
and he had tick paralysis. So I started him on the nebulizer as I was
instructed to do for MG.. Don felt his tummy and says he has
colic!! As you can see by the photos taken at 12mn last night he was playing
and not grunting and that was before the feed. Then I fed him and layed in
bed and listened to him grunt until 2am. So I am changing his formulaSo Buster has a big pain in his tummy, poor boy. Will keep
you updated. Sue

Hi Everyone. Buster is becoming a big kid and is about to move into the
cage! He is 1469grams now and due to be weighed tomorrow so he will probably
hit the 1.5kg. He has finished his antibiotics and seems perfect. With the
great weather we have been having, sun shining and birdies singing, we
thought it a good time to move out to the cage, plus he is a bit bored with
the cot. Noel & I spent a few hours yesterday getting the cage ready for a
little person, with ropes and toys and a centre pole. And then the weather
turns arctic! So he only had a big play out there and didn't spend the night
because it was too bloody cold. So he will move out to the cage as soon as
summer comes back. Sue

Hi Everyone. Buster is doing much better. Apparently Don was right
it was Cholic caused by a reaction to Di-Vetelact. has put on heaps
of weight and is now 1620grams. Also has no breathing problems and as you
can see is feeling just fine thank you!
He loveshis
rope in the cage and then he crashes. He especially like Chloe's old lambie.
Cheers Sue

Buster doesn't behave the way all the other joeys have. He is not as
boisterous or as into mischief. So he has an appointment with Ilona noahs ark for Tuesday to
be checked to see if he has any problems that are left over from the car hit
that can be fixed with Chiropractic treatment or acupuncture. His mum was
hit really hard so you would think he would have had to have absorbed some
of the impact. Let's see what Ilona can do with her magic beans. Sue

buster isplaying and developing suicidal tendancies like a normal joey. Noel thought
he was going to have to get him down with the net tonight, because he was
trying to get on the roof of the verandah. So he is normal bordering on very
naughty. How good is that? Sue

16/11/2012

Picture
Buster as you can tell from the photos is becoming a pest! Which is great,
as it is the first time he has displayed normal joey naughtiness. So it was
a belly pain problem caused by the formula. He weighed today 1877grams!
Leaping, galloping and into everything. Good boy Buster! Sue

Hi everyone. Just an update on Buster. He is doing really well and now
weighs 1960grams. No problems with feeds but is still on 1ml syringe. Plays
on chairs under kitchen table for ages. Likes to pull Noel's wiskers out by
the roots. :-) Sue

Buster now weighs 2.11kg so his midnight feed stops as of now. Dad took his
baby basket away and he is more upset about that but he is sitting and
sleeping on logs like a big kid. He is getting quite clever and has started
reading the paper and his favourite rope in his cage is now a hammock and he
sleeps most of the night in it. I do raise clever koalas. sue

He now weighs 2.23kg and is getting very
close to being weaned. I have just booked him into Port for Kindy, looking
at probably the week between Xmas & New Year. He is sooo ready for a tree!
Cheers Sue

Hello again. Here is Michelle who rescued Buster on the night of the fur
ball. She bought with her the teddy that she had as a baby that she named
him after, so he got in the photo as well. Michelle has just finished Uni
where she studied to be a radiographer and has got a job in a private
practice near Taree Hospital and is moving to Old Bar very soon. She and her
mum did a great job saving Buster that night and I appreciate it and wish
there were more like her. I told her there were bucket loads of Koalas at
Taree and she is going to look into volunteering when she is up there. Sue

Two more sleeps and he goes to Kindy. He was 2.3 kg when he was weaned and
now he is 2.62kg. He is doing really well just on leaf. He is an out of
control monster when he is out of the cage so he is going to love having a
tree and someone to play with. We take him up Friday so we will be gone most
of the day. Sue

Hi Everyone. Buster is finally in Kindy! AT PORT MACQUARIE KOALA HOSPITAL Early this morning he was
storming around the floor of the cage going crook very loudly and banging on
the walls for someone to "LET ME OUT", so it was definitely time. He weighed
2.62kg wich is a gain of 190 grams just on leaf, no milk.
There are three other joeys in kindy at the moment, two handraised
females called Lake Batesy and Ocean Ezza plus a little feral 2kg male
that's mum dumped him for a bloke.
Buster had a few issues finding his way up the tree as most of our
joeys have when they arrive. They act like THEY HAVE NO CLUE for half an hour then take
off. Buster found the tree by way of the gunya roof and within 30 mins of
being in the tree had woken everybody up NOT HAPPY. He got slapped by the first one he introduced himself to and ended up
in a brawl with one he tried to climb on. When we left (because I couldn't
watch anymore) he was still wrestling with the litte female in the last
photo.
Barb is going to take some photos and email them to me tomorrow to
let me know he survived his first night. Cheers Sue

BUSTER IS THE KOALA WITH NO EAR TAG

5/6/2013

buster returned home from his stay at port macquarie koala hospital .
due to the bad weather buster was put into the rehab and will be released as soon as the weather fines up

Well, seems like a long time since the night of the Koala Gala till
now! But
Buster was finally released today! He seemed quite happy with the
tree
selection an did a nice little leap on his way up. He weighed 4.14kg.
The
message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments:
He
had spent since last Monday with Aunty Fran proving to us that he was
only
interested in humans when they had something good to eat, but spent
most of
his time up the tree. He was released into a light drizzle of rain
but no
wind. The trees were really beautiful and a little boy should be very
happy
there. So stay safe Buster. I hope to never see you again. Sue
