CALLIE 23/11/2012

Got a call from Sue this morning 8.30. Carmel had already arrived and we got set to rescue an itty bitty guy from a tea tree. Sue arrives to help, go the girl power! Little miss wasn't very obliging but was no match for the team. Apparently the home owner heard the dogs at 3am . Sue had an appointment with Dr Don anyway, so back to Sues to collect mum and bub. Just pulled in the garage and the message is that Callie is covered in dog slobber and a wound and is coming to stay for a while. Back to get the leaf I had just dropped off. LOL. Carmel and Sue arrived and we found a puncture wound on her right thigh. Got out the clippers, gave it a good wash and spray with antiseptic. Zantac, Baytril and Metacam to follow. She is now in her self contained serviced apartment for observation and treatment. Lets hope we can stop an infection setting in and Callie is feeling her old self in no time. Simone

Miss Callie is currently in residence and recovering nicely from her traumatic dog attack. What we believed was just harassment from 2 dogs, turned out to be so much more! Subcut and surgery was the last chance for this beautiful girl. She had turned septic and was voiding(trying to put is nicely!). We had to keep up the baths, things were that messy. Thankyou to all those who came and helped. Even my boys took a turn and rose to the challenge. Noah's ark vets and their team have been wonderful. Callie had surgery at the Medowie clinic so Dr Don, who attempted to remove his thumb with a Stanley knife, could oversee Alex remove all the necrotic tissue. They did not expect her to survive the anesthetic and found a puncture that had gone unnoticed once she had her poodle hair cut! New trend, a Koadoodle!!!And she's pink!! With a drain in place, she came home to be hand fed and snuggled on heat mats. Her recovery has been a miracle. So many up and down days, I could see her fading one minute and perk the next. She had been too sore to move and we suspect there is muscle damage as well. I had commitments in Sydney and Rebecca stepped in with Callie going to their cage for some more of the good treatment as only Fran and clan provide! Thankyou!!! Callie has had her stitches and staples out yesterday. Dr Alex attempted to remove them. Think again Alex! Bring on that Valium again! Nothing wrong with this girls attitude!!! Callie's wounds are a little weepy still and we are keeping up the antibiotics over the weekend as insurance. She is finally feeding herself through the night and moving around. Watching her is almost painful. She winces when she walks. This is one strong girl. SIMONE

Callie is soo much improved. Her wounds are dry and looking great. she has been moving around the cage and even had a little walk around last night. She loves all her yummy leaf. She looks to be on track for some time in the rehab. Really this girl has surprised me, her injuries and the infection were so bad. Looking forward to the day we can release her to go out and make some beautiful babies and have a Koala life. Have a great day. Simone

CALLIE was well enough to be transferred into our second rehab She did a bit of sniffing and looking ... I really thinks she remembers her last visit ..... Went up the tree with ease ..When Rebecca came home Callie could hear her voice and climbed down the tree to give her a sniff and say "hello" then bounded back up the tree again Anyway she has settled in nicely .... and is looking at a Wednesday release ... fran

AFTER MUCH UP AND DOWN AND CAHSING OVER TWO DAYS .Callie came down to the lure of "Plantraid" A WONDERFULL RARE GUMLEAF ..... Jay was up and as you can see needed to put all manner of things up to stop her from jumping onto the tree..... she is an amazing jumper and was not happy to be restricted..... As it should be Simone did the honors and she bounded up the tree.... had a good look around and came back down .. for goodness sake, .. anyway did a few jumps and went up another branch.. We left her with the usual advise NO Dogs, Cars and NO Boys till next year !!.. She weighed 4.7kg same as when she was put into the rehab
