Got a call last night Koala on Foreshore Drive They had helped it cross the road ... was having difficulty walking and ? confused..... The young couple couldn't wait because they had a baby.... but..... the husband, Levi drove back to show us where it went off... Of course it had walked back across the road .... knew exactly where he wanted to be and was up a small swampy with beautiful big, soft leaf right next to the road.....( what a silly place to put a swampy). Now as you can imagine he was not in a hurry to come down... but down he did ... telling us off all the way.... He is a beautiful older boy 8.1 kg, Eyes look like he could have had Chlamydia at some stage .... He is dark brownish and for his age he is in wonderful condition .... beautiful, beautiful boy..... When we did the mobility test we saw exactly what they were talking about.... as he put weight onto the right back leg it would give way on him.... didn't seem to hurt so we thought it was either an old injury or arthritis.. he obviously had managed quite well 8.1kg !!!! He was quiet when he was in the basket even put his head in my hand and closed his eyes Ohhhhhh ... but then I tried to pull a tick from his side and he didn't like it... so he started biting anything and everything !!!! So when it was time to put him back in the basket after the mobility test we took our time not wanting to upset him again ....(8.1... strong as an ox) so we let him have the run of the back room for a little while ... We put him in our cage over night but only had Mel to offer him while we went out to get something else... he turned his nose up .... When we returned he thought he would eat some Mel ' if that was all there was..." He thought he was in heaven when we offered him some swampy he ate and ate ... this morning sticks and leaf to sit on only... Anyway went to see Don.. he found the old notes from NATF dated 20-2-04 he was aged at 2 years .... Was in a bottlebrush on Sal Way and rescued by Kathy Yeo... Weight 5.4kg ( that's big for a two year old isn't it)... So one beautiful big boy with a little attitude and has only visited us for a relocate or two... A- Maz-Ing ... Yes ! It can happen ... We released him behind Shores Close as I felt to take him into Mambo and release where we usually do would be too difficult for him to walk ... goodness we have difficulty... He didn't want to get out of the basket ... holding 8.1 kg of koala who doesn't want to get out ....... when I touched his bottom he would bite something.... I had to end up almost tipping him out to get him to climb it ... then he went to the closest fork and stopped .... i am thinking OMG he cant climb this tree... the bark is too soft, the trunk is too large.... No ! he just didn't want tooooooo.. As we left we said we didn't want to see him again and going on his passed record we probably wont..... ...Fran....
