Gymea another older lady was rescued yesterday sitting on the ground in
Anna Bay and spent the night in Fran's cot. She goes to the vet today and
then after her mobility test today will be coming into my cage. We can't see
anything obviously wrong with her except for an old wound next to her nose
and a bit of swelling above her rt eye. MaYbe she has been clipped by a car?
She was an adult at her first rescue in 2005 so she is getting on now. More
info after her vet visit. SUE

Just a quick update on Gymea. She remains very flat and has not moved at all or hardly eaten any leaf. Seems reluctant with supp feed as well. While cleaning her cage this morning I noticed her pellets smelt rather offensive. She has also developed a dry cough. So off to see Don. Bloods were collected and she has had an acute assault on her kidneys. Probably due to a poison of some kind. Don has ordered subcut daily to flush the toxin from her kidneys and Dex for the headache she would have and to try and encourage her appetite. She is in the cot and won’t go into the cage until she starts eating.

Hi Everyone. Gymea is doing a little better and has eaten a few
mouthfuls of leaf. She seems to like Scoparia . Gymea will have had by later tonight 500mls of
sub cut fluid as per Don's orders and it appears it might be doing the
trick.

Update. Gymea was looking awful yesterday. Drooling, diarrhoea and very
flat. I have had her on Charcoal caps since she came in and they are the
only thing she seems to like. So I have started her on Poo Shakes
compliments of Jay-T and some of Aunty Frans blended leaf. Well, she just
loves the blended leaf and is having the Poo mixed with a charcoal caps and
loves that too. She is looking a lot brighter this morning and even came to
the front of the cage to watch me hang out the washing. And if you look at
her chin she is not drooling. She is still not hardly eating any leaf, but
I'm hoping that will change. But I'm feeling more positive today than
yesterday. The wonders of poo maybe? sue

Gymea herself is showing slight improvement and ate much better than she has last night. She is even doing formed pellets , though they are still very soft. She is bright and alert although I don’t think she is out of the woods yet. There is just something that I can’t put my finger on, it might only be a feeling, but something is not right. The X-Rays today showed she has a gut full of gas so she is staying on Charcoal. Don said once she is eating and pelleting properly she can be released. So let’s hope my “feeling” is off base and she will be out of here soon. Cheers Sue

Hi everyone. What a lovely day to release Gymea! I was going to do
it a couple of days ago but the weather was bloody awful. So she went today
with her own film crew(young lady doing a degree in Wildlife Management and
Gymea is part of an assingment). She needed no encouragement to get out of
the basket and climbed all the way to the top and had a good look around.
Probably trying to figure out what direction is James Patersnon St. I put
her behind a property at Boat Harbour, lots of food and nice and
safe. Let's hope she stays there for a while
Good girl Gymea!
