MG was found at Wonderers Retreat Boat Harbour NSW.
Weight : 1238g
A couple who worked there noticed a mother leave her baby on the ground and climb up a huge tree. As mum was so high it was hard to check if mum had any signs of disease but MG had conjunctivitis and a very, very bad cough. The rescuer likened it to an 80 year old man with emphysema.. He was very weak and very sick... we think this is why mum left him at the bottom of the tree.. too weak to hold onto her back when she is climbing.

This note from his carer... She also cared
for Eli..
Here is MG's first day in Kindy at Port Mac. He took off
like a rocket and proceeded to do dare devil stunts 30ft in the air. Giving
me palpitations! He even at one stage ended up on the roof of the Gunya. He
went up and introduced himself to Grace who was asleep way up high. He was
very inappropriate in his greeting (grabbed her bottom) and she slapped him
three times in the face and sent him packing. Eli was asleep in the Gunya
and didn't even react to my voice(which is exactly what I wanted, but sad
at the same time).
When we left MG was still hanging upside down by one hand
or going all over the place on the underside of the logs.
Cheyne ( the boss, at port Macquarie Koala hospital ), text me about two hours later and said he had slowed down and was just sniffing
everything.
We went back in the morning and MG & Grace were up high asleep but Eli who
has worked out the routine by now was waiting impatiently by an empty leaf
tube for his breakfast, which arrived while we were watching.
There is another female Joey called Flick going in today. The Kindy holds 5 joeys at
max occupation.
Eli & Grace will be coming back together and being released
together at the same location in about two months.

Hi Everyone. We went for a big drive today and picked up three koalas
from Portmacquarie koala hospital Ava had been up there for treatment for wet bottom and was all
better. She was released back home in Boat Harbour, and didn't seem all that
impressed at first, but eventually climbed up very high. Better to see I
suppose.
The there was Eli & Mg who had been up there for 6 months and 5 months. Eli
weighed 3.7kg and MG was 3.4kg. We released them at the back of a
property at Boat Harbour. Cheyne had suggested that we buddy them up on
release, so we put them in the same tree. They have spent the last five
months in the same tree together and I thought it wouldn't be a scary for
them if they were together. It was rather wet under foot as you can see by
photos. They were acting like they didn't know what they were supposed to be
doing, just to make everyone worry. There was an ants nest half way up the
tree and they are still trying to figure out how to get around it to get up
higher in the tree. Rod is checking on them this arvo and I will go and look
in the morning. Thanks to Loreto & Carmel who came to keep me company and
awake. And thanks to the film crew as well. Good result with a mass release.
Cheers Sue
