Past carers and committee members

These are the people who in the past gave up their time and effort to make the H.K.P.S what it is today
Jill Taylor
![]() After more than 20 years of koala rescue and caring, Jill Taylor retired in 2011. For many years it's President Mrs Taylor has led a dedicated volunteer group on the Tilligerry Peninsula trying to save the population of koalas from local extinction.
On the night of her announcement Mrs Taylor thanked all volunteer carers and those that kept the Koala Society running for so many years of her involvement. She added, “special thanks to our wonderful vets and staff at the Tanilba Bay Veterinary Hospital and at Noah’s Ark Veterinary Services, Nelson Bay and Medowie“. Mrs Taylor reminisced, recalling her first koala was named “Hamid” in January 1994 after devastating bushfires at Tomago and Salt Ash. Mrs Taylor was presented with the award of “Life Member” as a mark of appreciation from the Koala Society. Betty Bartlett

Loreto Gray
Loreto gave up much of her time to the koalas and supporting the carers over the years and it was much appreciated. She was the secretary and published the wonderful newsletters we all became used to. Both were very time consuming and then she would go out and pick leaf whenever possible to help the carers out. She was helping Ray run the markets on the weekends, leaving very little time for herself. A big "Thank You" to Loreto.
Frank and Jacqui Hales
Frank and Jacqui were wonderful carers ... With a great passion for koalas . We hope that they will join us again at a later date ... fingers crossed
Sammi Adams

Sammi was a carer from 2014 to 2016 and hopefully will do so again in the future.
