RUE

Picture
Jay and REBECCA were called out to
Soldiers Point Road last night for a small koala crossing the road on a bad
corner up a small non food tree. When we arrived it was dark and of course the
koala had moved up higher in the tree. Jay got out the pole and put it near the
koala and it took off up the tree as high as it could go. Luckily the tree
wasn't too big because when Jay put the bag near her again she leapt from the
tree and landed very gracefully on the ground. I've never seen anything like it
I thought she was going to smash into the ground. Now things became a little
more difficult because she was inside the fence and we were outside. She got
into a tiny little tree near the fence and when Jay got close again she jumped
again and took off along the ground but Jay grabbed her. She told Jay off a
little but when she got into the basket she calmed down and we could see that
she was a gorgeous little girl.

We took her home to weigh her
and  check her over.

We named her Rue after a
character  in The Hunger Games book who spent most of her time jumping around in
the tops  of trees to hide from everyone. Because of all the amazing jumping we
saw her  do we thought it was the perfect name for her.

After she had finished eating
her  Scap. I got her another stick and we took her to Pearson Park to be
released.  When we got there it was blowing a gale. Jay took the lid off the
basket and I  thought she'd jump out straight away but she said no thank you I'm
eating!!! Jay  had to give her a boost out and then she climbed up. We couldn't
get any release  photos because it was dark. I gave her the usual talk hopefully
she was  listening.
