Hi Guy's. Introducing our Australia Day Koala, Salt Ash Matilda. She was
hit by a car on LTP RD at Salt ash late last night and picked up by a lovely
young man called Luke Robinson who wrang his mates mum who is a possum carer
in Newcastle and she told him to take her to the 24hr Vet Hosp at
Broadmeadow. So he wrapped her in his jacket and nursed her all the way
while his mate drove.
She appears to be very lucky, with only a
small laceration on her knee, a graze on the inside of her left foot and a
small cut on the inside of her right elbow. She was lovely and quiet when we
picked her up, so I put her in the cot. About an hour later she woke up
fully and started pacing and crashing around in between stops for some leaf.
She has no chip and weighs 5.94kg. She got herself in a very unlady like
position in the cot with her legs up in the air and her bottom pressed
against the wire, so I stuck my finger throught the wire and gave her pouch
a good examination. It was clean and empty, but appears to have been used
before. She is very frightened and makes an unholy wheezy trumpeting noise
if you attempt to touch her. She is in the cage now having a bit of a look
around for the door. . Cheers Sue

SHE DOESNT LIKE US
we are not taking it personally (yet). She was not eating enough in my
opinion to start with , but last night she ate very well.
We do get CREAM on her grazes, but we have to be very sneaky about it as
she is NOT IMPRESSED with the idea at all. I will take her to Don NOAHS ARK on
Wednesday hopefully for a chip and OK for release. She's a very lucky girl.

Salt Ash Matilda
Miss Matilda was chipped and released this morning.
After creating a huge fuss getting into the basket she then proceeded to screech like a banshee at Don.
He aged her at about 4-5 yrs and that took three of us.
Noel and Murray released her in the bush at Oyster Cove as she was hit near the Oyster Cove turn off.
